Contrast the physiological events that occur during non-REM and REM sleep

What will be an ideal response?

The brain wave activity differs between the two states. In non-REM sleep, there is a presence of slow-waves, and especially delta waves during Stages 3 and 4 of non-REM sleep. In REM sleep, the body is mostly paralyzed and the brain wave pattern is that present (beta waves) when we are awake. Dream type also differs between the two states.
