Define achievement motivation, and list at least three home environment factors thought to foster high achievement motivation in children

What will be an ideal response?

Achievement motivation is the willingness to strive to succeed at challenging tasks and to meet high standards of accomplishment. Factors that foster achievement motivation include (1) secure attachment during infancy, (2) intellectually stimulating home environments, especially in terms of variety of stimulation and age-appropriateness of play materials, and (3) authoritative parenting strategies that warmly encourage self-reliance (sometimes called independence training). Part of this parenting strategy involves direct achievement training (setting high standards) and praising accomplishments, while not belittling failures.
