When writing, the students in your classroom have fallen into the habit of using the same adverbs and adjectives. How can you help your students avoid using these "weak" words? Describe at least two activities you can incorporate into a grammar workshop to address this

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Assisting students in expanding their writing vocabularies fits easily into the grammar workshop. Activities to include during the workshops include reading and discussing the vocabulary in a wide variety of literary works, brainstorming lists of new words to replace "weak" words, engaging in visual literacy by writing concrete poems, and assisting students in combining or expanding sentences to provide greater detail or descriptions. The use of mentor text, exposing students to good literature that includes words that paint a stronger visual image, is important.
