Discuss the family as a communication system (systems theory).
What will be an ideal response?
Within the system, family members are interdependent and the actions of one individual family member can only be understood in relation to all family members. Also, the functioning of the family as a whole must be seen as part of the system. The system shows how the behavior of one family member affects the behaviors of every other family member, both in and out of the family setting. It follows that the verbal and nonverbal actions of any one family member must be examined within the system and cannot be understood in isolation from the verbal and nonverbal actions of those other family members.
