Compare the three major paradigms of sociology, Symbolic Interactionism, Structural Functionalism, and Conflict Theories. Discuss the focus of each, and identify the level of analysis

What will be an ideal response?

Symbolic Interactionism — how individuals' interactions with their environments (other people, institutions) help people develop their sense of self as well as the meanings of objects (or parts) of society; micro level. Structural Functionalism — focus on stability and order, society tends toward balance and equilibrium, every part of society has a function (or purpose); macro level. Conflict Theory — society allocates resources unequally, the US is based on inequality, the unequal distribution of rewards, those with power try to maintain it while those without power try to change the system so there are constant struggles between haves and have-nots; macro level.
