The Affordable Care Act represented a shift toward prevention with the establishment of the Prevention and Public Health Fund. This fund has four aims: community prevention, clinical prevention, public health infrastructure and training, and research surveillance focused on workforce wellness. Describe what these changes would mean for an individual and for the community.
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: The four aims may affect the local person and community positively. This is largely because health programs targeted to prevent chronic illness and diseases utilizing a community prevention approach should result in an increase in the community life span. In addition, not only will these persons have knowledge through community programs, but will have access to care and medication through clinical prevention and public health infrastructure. Ultimately, together with the research evidence also used to translate data into practice in the workplace, there would be a holistic change in the community including attitudes toward prevention.
