What is the significance of Ur?

What will be an ideal response?

Ur is significant for the oldest, best preserved and restored Ziggurat. Ziggurats are pyramidal structures that would stand out against the flat fertile planes of Mesopotamia and are suggestive of the mountain source of the river waters. The Ziggurats are fundamental in Mesopotamian religion as they were used by the priest-ruler class to mediate between the sky and the earth and secure bountiful harvests from the gods.
