How can you identify students with learning disabilities?

What will be an ideal response?

Until recently, children were identified as having a disability according to the discrepancy between their performance on measures of intelligence and their achievement scores in specific areas. This discrepancy model has been discredited and replaced with a new approach that identifies children as having a learning disability when they do not respond appropriately to effective instruction. This change in the field of special education has led to the emergence of the response to intervention (RtI) movement.
