Should violations of criminal law be exempt from consideration during a sports contest due to the inherent violent nature of certain sports?

What will be an ideal response?

There is great debate as to whether criminal law should be left at the door of the arena during a sports contest. Few cases have ever gone to trial in which an athlete is charged with a crime that occurs during a contest primarily because society accepts that violence is part of many sports. However, there is some conduct (such as using a stick as a weapon) that is so outrageous that society says such behavior is unacceptable and possibly subject to criminal action. Also, many prosecutors spend more time addressing the needs of what society may call “real” criminal misconduct.
