The structure of family life changed dramatically during this period of time. Describe these changes and the impact they had on families and society in general. What aspects of these changes were positive and which were negative?
What will be an ideal response?
Families became far less traditional. Many households were headed by women and many couples were childless. More children were being raised in poverty and families overall were less successful financial. Women in particular were having to balance work and child responsibility. The positives revolved around the reduction of stigma of alternative family structure, etc. The negatives were less resources, more stress and rising economic inequality.
