Describe the process of updating to DHCPv6.
What will be an ideal response?
Updating DHCP is optional, since devices can autoconfigure, but if you're going to implement DHCPv6 to get around the limitations of autoconfiguration, then the planning will be similar to DNS. You'll want to research and evaluate DHCPv6 servers and what features they support.
Going live with a new DHCPv6 server takes more finesse, as the new DHCPv6 server won't know what IP addresses have already been leased out, so you can get IP address conflicts. Usually, this is done by reducing the DHCPv6 lease time before the migration to an hour or so instead of the usual 3-day to 7-day lease times. That way, when you do the cutover in a 2-to-3-hour change window, all the clients will ask for new leases sometime during the window. Afterwards, you can set the lease time back to normal.
