Which spinal cord tract transmits impulses concerned with temperature and pain? Describe the pathway and include the location and destination of the first, second, and third-order neurons

What will be an ideal response

The lateral spinothalamic tract conveys impulses concerned with temperature and pain to the opposite side of the brain for interpretation by the somatosensory cortex. First-order sensory neurons enter the spinal cord and synapse with second-order interneurons in the dorsal horn. These second-order neurons crossover to the other side of the cord and then ascend to the thalamus where they synapse with third-order neurons. Thalamic neurons then ascend to the somatosensory cortex.
