ANSWER: The data block is where directories and files are stored on a disk drive. This location is linked directly to inodes. As in Microsoft file systems, the Linux file system on a PC has 512-byte sectors. A data block is equivalent to a cluster of disk sectors on a FAT or NTFS volume. Blocks range from 1024 to 4096 bytes each on a Linux volume.
