(a) TRUNC(number,num_digits)
(b) ROUND(number,num_digits)
(c) COMBIN(number,number_chosen)
(d) DEGREES(angle)
(e) SLOPE(known_y's,known_x's)
(f) CEILING(number,significance)
a) TRUNC(number,num_digits)
Truncates a number to the set number of digits.
Examples: TRUNC(2.798,1) = 2.7 or TRUNC(2.798,2) = 2.79
(b) ROUND(number,num_digits)
Rounds a number to a specified number of digits.
Examples: ROUND(2.13456,1) = 2.1 or TRUNC(2.13456,3) = 2.135
(c) COMBIN(number,number_chosen)
Determines the total possible number of groups for a given number of items. number_chosen is the number of items in each combination.
Example: You have four cards A, B, C, D, how many different ways can you combine the cards into groups of two? group1: A and B; group2: A and C; group3: A and D; group4: B and C; group5: B and D; group6: C and D. Using Excel COMBIN (4,2) = 6.
(d) DEGREES(angle)
Converts the angle value from radians to degrees.
Example: DEGREES(3.141592) = 180
(e) SLOPE(known_y's,known_x's)
Returns the slope of a line fit to a set of data points.
Example:
SLOPE(a2:a4,b2:b4) = 0.5
(f) CEILING(number,significance)
Rounds up to the nearest given significance.
Examples: CEILING(3.04,0.1) = 3.1; CEILING(3.4,1) = 4
