Explain the parking brake switch test.
What will be an ideal response?
To check the parking brake switch and its wiring, locate the switch on the pedal, lever, or handle and disconnect it with the ignition off. If the switch connector has a single wire, connect a jumper from that wire to ground. If the switch connector has two wires, connect a jumper between the two wires in the connector. Turn the ignition on and check the brake warning lamp. If the lamp is lit, replace the parking brake switch. If the lamp is still off, find and repair the open circuit in the wiring harness between the body control computer and the switch.
