What makes a profession different from a job?
What will be an ideal response?
: A number of factors make a profession different from a job. Professions recognize and adhere to a defined code of ethics, which provides guidelines for behavior, facilitates decision-making, and provides support when practitioners decide to take a stand in the face of an ethical dilemma. A profession is also supported by a specialized knowledge base involving theoretical principles, specialized training founded on that knowledge base, and universal standards of practice that stem from that knowledge base. Professionals seek to establish a clear concept of who they are, what they do, and the importance of their role through participation in professional organizations, seminars, and continuing education and training.
