State the major arguments for and against same-sex marriage. Which argument seems most reasonable to you? Why?

What will be an ideal response?

The assimilationist argument in favor of same-sex marriage states that marriage
will bring LBGT couples into conformity with the majority of families, reducing the
deviant nature of their relationships. The radical view against same-sex marriage states
that marriage is not necessarily a positive experience and that LBGT families should
find their own models that don’t privilege heteronormative ideals. Other arguments
against same-sex marriage include traditional or religious beliefs about the nature of
marriage being between a man and a woman. Other arguments in favor include the right to be treated equally before the law and basic human rights arguments. Answers to
the second part of the question will vary.
