Workers are paid $1.00 at most, but sometimes they are paid nothing at all. Many fear being killed by the other Burmese workers under the thumb of the bosses. As one migrant worker states: "They always told us if we don't work, they would shoot us." Shrimp peeled in Thailand end up on "all-you-can-eat" seafood buffets in the United States. AP reporters found that shrimp peeled by migrants in unsafe and hazardous working conditions have ended up in grocery stores in all 50 states.
