Given what is known about taste and smell, why does food taste different when a person has congested sinuses?

What will be an ideal response?

There are approximately six different things humans can taste (sweet, salty, bitter, sour, umami, and oleogustus). However, much of the flavor of a food is really based on odor (our sense of smell). Therefore, when a person is sick and the sinuses are congested, he/she loses some ability to smell and the flavor of foods is decreased.
