The common expression “Renaissance Man” connotes both excellence in letters and arts. Both Leonardo da Vinci and Lorenzo the Magnificent excelled in many different areas. Leonardo had wide-reaching interests. He painted, studied anatomy, and was a war strategist. Lorenzo was a poet and a musician, and he was also a ruler of Florence and a great patron of the arts. He supported learning, collected manuscripts, and formed one of the first libraries. Therefore, each of these men exemplified the “Renaissance Man” in different ways.
