Describe the duties of aftercare officers.

What will be an ideal response?

The duties of aftercare officers are similar to those of probation officers. They have supervisory and investigatory responsibilities and provide social services. They also have large caseloads and limited resources. Aftercare officers tend to be more experienced than probation officers, because the needs of institutionalized youths can be more serious. Their chief goal is to help juvenile delinquents’ transition back into the community by giving them the tools to do so. Leaving confinement can be a shock, and when one returns to one’s old territory, it can be difficult to refrain from crime.
