Why must police leaders keep their focus on community policing and problem solving when addressing homeland security and cybercrime, and in the application of science?

What will be an ideal response?

Certain elements of community policing are compatible and, perhaps, should coexist with antiterrorism efforts. The first among these elements is the strategic requirement for geographic focus. Community policing requires police officers have a permanent beat to become familiar with community members, identify problems, and find solutions to these problems. The second main component of community policing that may be compatible with antiterrorism is problem solving. Several terrorism scholars have pointed out that the underlying causes of terrorism should be addressed. Problem-oriented policing must address cybercrime differently, as the problem often exists in both electronic and physical communities. However, the SARA problem-solving process can be used to address this type of crime.
