Explain the process of density stratification as it applies to the formation of Earth. What will be an ideal response?

During the accretion phase in the formation of Earth, gravitational compression combined
with radioactive decay caused Earth to partially melt. Gravity pulled most of the heavier
elements, such as iron and nickel, inward to form the planet’s core. Lighter elements, such as
silicon, magnesium, and aluminum, rose toward the surface, forming Earth’s crust.
