Discuss the findings of the meta-analysis done by Rohrbeck, Ginsburg-Block, Fantuzzo, and Miller (2003).
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: The results of the meta-analysis found the following: most of the interventions used did not provide students with a detailed method for evaluating autonomy and self-confidence, half of the studies provided information to peer-students on how to complete their tasks, and half of the students used a reward system for peer-tutors and half did not. Studies where student-peers had more autonomy in setting goals, selecting rewards and implementing the rewards resulted in greater effect sizes from the intervention, Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL). No differences were found in effect sizes for studies using individual versus group methods of the PAL intervention.
