Discuss goal setting as a key aspect of achievement.

What will be an ideal response?

Students can set both long-term (distal) and short-term (proximal) goals. A good strategy is to encourage students to set challenging goals. Goals that are easy to reach generate little interest or effort. However, goals should be optimally matched to the student's skill level. If goals are unrealistically high, the result will be repeated failures that lower the student's self-efficacy.
