Explain the principle of the skinfold thickness technique, and provide its standard error of estimate (SEE).

What will be an ideal response?

Skinfold thickness technique allows quick, simple, and inexpensive estimates of body composition. Assessing body composition using skinfold thickness is based on the principle that the amount of subcutaneous fat is proportional to total body fat. Measurements of this tissue give a good indication of percent body fat, if performed by an experienced technician in a correct manner. The SEE for skinfold analysis is ±3.5 percent.
