• Selective prevention programs or secondary prevention: Directed at children or adolescents who are at risk of juvenile offending or have already shown some non-serious problem behaviors. Fast Track Project: Based on developmental pathway theory
Two major phases: 1 ) Elementary school focuses on six risk and protective factors. 2 ) Adolescent periods focuses on four areas of adolescent adjustment.
Compared with a group of high-risk children not in program, children in program showed improved social, emotional, and academic skills and improved peer relationships.
• Treatment approaches or tertiary prevention: Directed at children or adolescents who are adjudicated delinquents. Most effective if based on risk, needs, responsivity principles.
Boot camps: Community treatment. Short-term, intensive, military style program for nonviolent offenders
