Supervisors are interested primarily in the type of training that is appropriate for their employees. Generally speaking, such training should cover the following subjects:
• Orientation to the organization's safety policy and principles
• General housekeeping procedures
• Emergency procedures
• Proper use of applicable equipment
• Orientation to hazardous materials present in the company and proper handling of these materials
The method of instruction used can range from simple one-on-one conversations between supervisor and employee to discussion groups to formal instruction. Instruction may be provided directly by supervisors or by individuals introduced by supervisors.
