Describe what is meant by the 'three-legged stool.'
What will be an ideal response?
There are three interrelated activities that constitute the three-legged stool. They are:
Hiring - the first of three vital processes in which all successful organizations must engage to build and leverage their human capital.
Developing - firms must also develop employees at all levels and specialties so that they fulfil their potential and, in doing so, maximize their joint contributions.
Retaining - firms must provide the working environment and intrinsic and extrinsic rewards to retain their best and brightest; without employee retention, the first two processes are rendered meaningless.
