How did nineteenth century immigration impact music in America both immediately and long-term?

What will be an ideal response?

The nineteenth century was an era of European immigration into America. When people came from Germany, Italy, France, and Sweden they brought with them ethnic songs, ethnic instruments, religious musical traditions, and dances that quickly blended into American culture. Famous immigrant musicians such as Patrick Gilmore had a direct influence on the development of music in America. Musical regionalism is still evident in America today, with ethnic traditions that date to the nineteenth century.
