What are the five areas of accommodations and modifications generally provided for a student with an IEP, and what is involved with each?
What will be an ideal response?
The five areas are scheduling, setting, materials, instruction, and student response. Scheduling involves giving the student extra breaks and extra time to complete assignments. Setting involves where the child works: in a small group or a separate setting. Materials could include books on tape or copies of teacher lecture notes. Instruction could include materials at a lower reading level, or providing study guides to the student. Student response accommodations could include allowing oral answers instead of writing answers or using a modified answer sheet.
