Describe functional vision assessment (FVA)

What will be an ideal response?

A diagnosis of visual impairments, with information about acuity and field of vision, does not provide useful information about how a child will learn incidentally from the environment and to perform age-appropriate tasks. An FVA is used to determine the actual effects the visual impairment will have on the child's visual functioning. The results are reported in language that informs teachers and parents in concrete ways (such as, "The child can see 3-inch high printed letters at a distance of no more than 2 feet"). FVA describes how a student uses vision in a variety of natural environments, recognizing that vision changes with changes in the environment
