What would you say to a classmate who says that everyone should strive for a perfect grade-point average in college?

What will be an ideal response?

Achieving a perfect grade-point average, while an admirable goal, is seldom necessary. While it is important to do well in one's classes, much depends on an individual's goals. Some students may need higher grades to transfer to a competitive academic program; others may need to focus more on fulfilling course requirements, obtaining certification, and so on.
