List and explain the five categories of Maslow's Hierarchy

What will be an ideal response?

Physiological needs--basic human requirements of existence, such as water, food and sleep.

Safety needs--everything that contributes to the "safe, orderly, lawful and organized world" that we
depend upon. Having shelter and reliable transportation are examples.

Belongingness and love needs--our relationships with people around us. The need to give and receive
affection provides us with a sense of community.

Esteem needs--feelings of individual self-worth and reasonably high self-evaluation that other people
confirm and validate as they recognize what we do well.

Self-actualization needs--goals we need to achieve in order to feel that we have reached our potential or
fulfilled our destiny. These goals are always in flux and can change at different points in our lives.
