Why is it important that humans attempt to control their numbers and begin to identify renewable resources?

What will be an ideal response?

The direct impact humans have on the environment may be a powerful force in shaping and forming the world around us. If human population growth and our use of resources don't slow down dramatically, we run the risk of reducing the carrying capacity of the planet. Educational programs have helped inform people about the environmental effects of fossil fuel use and feeding an overcrowded world. Recycling efforts have helped improve the situation, but burning fossil fuels at the current rate is expediting the destruction of many habitats.
