Power steering systems usually have two hoses: one for pressure and the other for return. Discuss the differences between the two.
What will be an ideal response?
The return hose is not under pressure like the high-pressure hose. The pressure hose is made of reinforced, oil-resistant synthetic rubber, crimped to metal tubing. It must withstand temperatures of 3000F and handle pressures up to 1,500 psi. Some pressure hoses also have a flow reducer-an orifice that controls oil flow. The return hose usually connects to the power steering pump with a hose clamp. It operates under low pressure but must be able to withstand high temperatures and resist damage from power steering fluid.
