Your uncle wants to surprise your two young children and buy them a trampoline for your backyard. Should you be concerned about allowing your children to play on a trampoline? Discuss three things you can do to promote the safe use of a trampoline

By 2004, there were over 111,000 trampoline accidents reported annually in the U.S., with the highest rate of injury for children under age 6. Over half of the reported injuries took place when parents were watching. Parents should be concerned because trampoline related accidents have caused injuries to children's heads, spines, arms, legs, and faces. the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness do not recommend using trampolines for recreational purposes in any setting (AAP, 1999; 2012). When trampolines are used, the AAP endorses a set of very specific design and behavioral recommendations for limited use of trampolines in "supervised training programs."
