What do unconformities represent? What will be an ideal response?
Unconformities represent missing time; the geological record is not complete at an unconformity. In a
sequence of sedimentary rock layers, some rock may be missing due to nondeposition, erosion, or
both, and this means that that time period is not represented. A nonconformity is an erosional surface
cut into metamorphic or igneous rocks and covered by sedimentary rocks. The principle of inclusions
can be used to determine the relative ages of the igneous (or metamorphic) and sedimentary rocks
