Describe a beginning exercise for counting backwards
What will be an ideal response?
The teacher may write a number line from 0 to 5 for the students. The teacher would model, lead, and test on counting backwards while touching the numerals on the number line. Numerals would be erased one at a time each time the students counted backwards from 5. The exercise would be repeated throughout the day as a delayed test. If the students demonstrated mastery, the teacher would ask the students to count backwards from 5 without any visuals for the next day or two. Additional numbers would be added to the sequence as the students demonstrated mastery.
