Compare and contrast the two methods that are used to predict mixed costs
Both regression analysis and the high/low method are techniques that can be used to predict the fixed and variable components of a mixed cost.
Regression analysis is the more precise method because it uses statistical methods to fit a cost line through a number of data points.
The high/low method does not involve statistics. It uses only two data points for the cost line based on the highest and lowest activity levels.
