Who was Maria Montessori, and how did she influence the field of early childhood education?
What will be an ideal response?
Montessori was a medical doctor who created homes for poor families that included schools. She believed that children are capable of integrating aspects of the world around them through the use of their senses. Her methods are ideal for children ages 3–6. She insisted that children's environments be carefully constructed to allow them to sense their learning with materials, such as letters made of sandpaper and colored objects to count.
