How have social disorganization and ecological theories been critiqued in the past? In your opinion, what is the strongest objection to them?

What will be an ideal response?

One problem with social disorganization is that people must assume that some form of social organization is natural and normal. This assumption requires that we define what a socially organized community looks like and believe in a consensus view that may not be possible. Many tests of social disorganization theory use the concept of social disorganization but then use delinquency and criminality as indicators of social disorganization. This leads to circular reasoning. Another issue is known as the ecological fallacy. The issue is that one cannot make inferences about individuals based on aggregate-level data. In other words, one cannot make predictions about individual human and criminal behavior based on correlations derived from sources such as official crime statistics.
