Describe the instructional procedure of incidental teaching.
What will be an ideal response?
One naturalistic teaching approach is called “incidental teaching.”This approach focuses on following the student’s lead and waiting for him or her to request or indicate interest in something. In this approach, the teacher arranges the learning environment with preferred materials so that the student initiates interest is something. When the child looks, reaches for, or points to something of interest, the teacher models the target behavior (i.e., say the name of the object, point and look, make a verbal request, etc.).If the student imitates the target behavior, give the student access to the object.
