Describe the global environmental threats of pollution, garbage, and climate change. For each, describe the causes of the problem and the dangers posed
Please provide the best answer for the statement.
1. Pollution can be water pollution or air pollution. Water pollution usually comes from three major sources: domestic waste, industrial waste, and agricultural runoff. Air pollution comes from cars, homes, and industrial processes. Both of these forms of pollution are dangerous to humans, plants, and animals, and contribute to the poisoning of ecosystems.
2. Garbage refers to solid wastes. While it is sometimes recycled, more than half of garbage in the United States and most of the garbage in poor countries is put into landfills. Landfills are excavations in the ground where garbage is left and covered over. Landfills leach toxic chemicals into water and into the air, contributing to the poisoning of ecosystems and to global warming.
3. Climate change refers to the rapid changes in the planet’s climate as the atmospheric temperature warms due to a human-caused concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Climate change contributes to increased natural disasters such as hurricanes, droughts, and floods; shortages of fresh water; further extinction of species as their ecosystems are destroyed; and resulting social chaos.
