Illustrate the difference between strategic and responsive corporate social responsibility. Include a fictional or real example of each.

What will be an ideal response?

Strategic corporate social responsibility is engagement a company undertakes to honor the triple bottom line (people, planet and profit). The activities align with the social, environmental and economic impact of its business operations and reflect the concerns of the key stakeholders. An example of this would be an international paper company donating a percentage of its revenues to replant the forests harvested for paper production.
When engaging in responsive corporate social responsibility, a company is practicing good citizenry by addressing social or environmental issues not necessarily tied to its business practices. This issues are broader and more peripheral to the company. An example of responsive corporate social responsibility is a Canadian electric company sending trucks and workers to Texas and Florida to help restore electrical service to neighborhoods flooded during hurricanes Harvey and Irma in 2017. The trucks are also loaded with pallets of bottled water.
