Explain the differences between physical activity and exercise and provide examples of each.

What will be an ideal response?

Responses will vary; there is a clear distinction between physical activity and exercise. Physical activity is bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that requires energy expenditure and produces progressive health benefits. Examples include walking to and from class, taking the stairs instead of elevators, gardening, dancing, and washing your car by hand. Exercise, on the other hand, is a type of physical activity that requires planned, structured, and repetitive bodily movements done to improve or maintain one or more components of physical fitness. Examples include jogging, cycling, aerobics, swimming, strength training, and stretching exercises.
