Please explain the process of testing the hypothesis that the treatment mean will be higher than the baseline mean, when using the AB design.
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: When the researcher uses the AB design, he/she needs to compute the mean and standard deviation of the baseline scores and the mean of the treatment scores. The researcher would then determine the boundaries of the chance zone by multiplying the baseline standard deviation by 2 and adding this value to the baseline mean. The doubled standard deviation is added to the baseline mean because the researcher has hypothesized that the treatment mean will be higher than the baseline mean.
