What are some of the reasons women who experience marital rape have similar negative responses as those who are raped by a stranger or acquaintance, and more severe consequences in comparison to women who only experience IPV?

What will be an ideal response?

Long-term consequences for marital rape are so severe for three reasons. (1) Marital rape is not usually an isolated incident. Not only does it often co-occur alongside other forms of IPV, but it also usually means that there are multiple instances of rape occurring over a period of time. (2) There is a deep sense of betrayal at being raped by someone they trust and love. (3) There is a larger lack of support for victims of marital rape due to how this crime is often viewed as less serious.
