What will be an ideal response?
This question requires students to take a stance on the role of government. They should use examples from the text to defend a specific course of action for government in the lives of individuals and international issues. Students may discuss membership in international organizations, treaties, peace keeping, funding, etc., to demonstrate the role of government. They may also choose to discuss characteristics of good governance and/or decision-making. Students should also discuss the responsibility that government has to protect and represent the people. Examples of both successes and failures are outlined in the text. Answers should illustrate they understand what is needed to govern effectively and the outcomes poor governance has on people and their development
