Describe the technique of moving disk files to extend the life of a disk.

What will be an ideal response?

A technique that can help extend the life of disk drives is to spread files evenly across them when there are multiple disks. This technique is used mainly on computers with multiple-user access, such as servers, and on computers with frequent disk activity. Before files are moved, the server administrator examines disk and file activity to determine how to spread files across the disk drives to achieve even loading. Also, files must be moved based on their functions so files that contain related information are on the same drive.
